AFFECTED VEHICLES

2007-2012 Eclipse Spyder

REQUIRED TOOLS

PROCEDURE

REMOVAL

1. Use a small flashlight or similar light source to locate the retaining clips through the air outlet fins.

2. Working on the bottom clips as a pair release the retaining clips.

a. CAREFULLY wedge a nylon trim stick behind the lower lip of the outlet bezel near a clip position. This helps keep the outlet from snapping back into place as you release clips.

Do not pry the bezel or apply too much pressure. The bezel will detach and make removal of the outlet more difficult.

b. Insert a hook probe between the first and second fins near your trim stick.

NOTE:
For the following steps it may help to practice with the new part first.

c. Position the probe up the side of the retaining clip (photo).

d. Rotate the probe to depress the clip and release it. Pull the probe towards you to free the clip from the I/P.

If necessary remove air direction fins to gain access to the retaining clips.

e. Slide your trim stick closer to the lower center of the bezel or position a second trim stick under the bezel near the second clip.

f. Repeat steps to release the other lower clip and upper clips.

g. Remove the air outlet.

Make sure any broken fins or clips are completely removed from the air duct.

INSTALLATION

1. Position the air direction adjuster in the approximate center of the air outlet.

2. Install the air outlet to the I/P.

a. Align the locating lug with the corresponding slot in the outlet opening of the I/P.

b. Keep the adjuster centered during installation to prevent damage to the fins.

c. Apply even pressure at the retaining clip positions until the assembly is seated.

3. Move the adjuster to all positions to confirm full motion.

If the clips are not flush to the inner surface of the outlet they are not seated and can prevent adjustment of the outlet.
