Steering Angle Sensor: Testing and Inspection




STEERING WHEEL SENSOR CALIBRATION

CAUTION:
After the next operation has been completed, carry out the following two operations:
1. Update the neutral point that the steering wheel sensor stores.

2. Reset the steering wheel angle correction value that the TCL/ASC-ECU stores.

- Front alignment adjustment
- Steering wheel sensor removal and installation
- TCL/ASC-ECU replacement

CAUTION:

Before carrying out the calibration, check if the steering wheel sensor-related diagnostic trouble code is set in the TCL/ASC-ECU.

Required Special Tools:

- MB991958: Scan Tool (M.U.T.-III Sub Assembly)
- MB991824: Vehicle Communication Interface (V.C.I.)
- MB991827: M.U.T.-III USB Cable
- MB991910: M.U.T.-III Main Harness A





3. Park the vehicle on a level surface.

CAUTION:
To prevent damage to scan tool MB991958, always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool MB991958.

Connect scan tool MB991958 to the data link connector.

5. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.

6. Select "Steering Angle Sensor".

7. Select "Special Function".

8. Select "Steering Angle Sensor Calibration".

9. Run "SAS Initialization". (Reusable parts only)

10. Select and run "Calibration".

11. Exit "Steering Angle Sensor" menu, and then select "ABS/ASC/ASTC".

12. Select "Special Function".

13. Select "Sensor calibration".

14. Select "SAS calibration".

15. Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.

16. Disconnect scan tool MB991958.
