Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
DTC C1608: TPMS Abnormality (EEPROM Failure)
TPMS DTC SET CONDITION
DTC C1608 will be set if there is any fault in the TPMS receiver's EEPROM. At the same time this DTC is set, the TPMS warning light flashes for about 1 minute and then remain illuminated.
TROUBLESHOOTING HINT
Replace the TPMS receiver.
DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
- MB991958: Scan Tool (M.U.T.-III Sub Assembly)
- MB991824: Vehicle Communication Interface (V.C.I.)
- MB991827: M.U.T.-III USB Cable
- MB991910: M.U.T.-III Main Harness A
STEP 1. Check the illumination condition of the TPMS warning light after the following procedures.
(1)Replace the TPMS receiver (Refer to TPMS Receiver Removal and Installation).
(2)
CAUTION:
To prevent damage to scan tool MB991958, always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool MB991958.
Connect scan tool MB991958 to the data link connector.
(3)Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
(4)Execute "Tire Pressure Sensor ID Registration" on scan tool MB991958 "Special Function"
(Refer to Tire Pressure Sensor ID Registration).
(5)Check the illumination condition of the TPMS warning light.
Q. Is the TPMS warning light flash for about 1 minute and then remain illuminated?
YES Repeat the "Tire Pressure Sensor ID Registration".
NO Go to Step 2.
STEP 2.Recheck for diagnostic trouble code.
Q. Does diagnostic trouble code C1608 reset?
YES Repeat the troubleshooting from Step 1.
NO The procedure is complete.
