Engine - MIL ON/DTC's P0061A/P0068/P1235/P1241

No: TSB-10-13-011

DATE: November, 2010

MODEL: See below

SUBJECT:

MIL ILLUMINATION WITH DTCS P0061A, P0068, P1235 AND/OR P1241

PURPOSE

Customers of some affected vehicles may report an illuminated MIL ("Service Engine Soon" light) with the subject DTCs stored in ECM memory and/or reduced engine performance. When driving during a a heavy snowstorm snow may be drawn into the air intake and accumulate on the air filter element. After the engine is stopped higher underhood temperatures can cause snow on the lower part of the element to melt. The water accumulates at the bottom of the air cleaner body on both sides of the filter element. When the engine is restarted if the upper part of the element is still clogged with snow intake air passes thought the lower section of the air cleaner element and water is drawn through the air flow sensor and affects sensor readings.

NOTE:

DTCs P1235 and P1240 apply to 2010 and earlier models of affected vehicles.

DTCs P0061A and P0068 apply to 2011 models of affected vehicles.

This Technical Service Bulletin provides instructions to modify the air cleaner body seal to allow residual water to completely drain from the air cleaner body.
