Repair Procedure

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Record all freeze frame data on the repair order.

2. Check the underside of the hood to verify there is no "Authorized Modification" label previously installed to indicate this reprogramming has already been completed. If a label is present and the "ROM ID #" on the label matches the "New S/W Part No." in the table shown at the begining of this bulletin, the ECM is at the latest level and reprogramming is not necessary.

For MEDIC II users only: (MUT-III users go to step 5)

3. Verify the MEDIC-II is at version 5.6 and at download M404 or higher.

If your MEDIC-II download is at least M404 continue with the Reprogramming Procedure.

If your MEDIC-II download is below M404, update your MEDIC-II as follows.

4. On the MEDIC-II main screen, click on "Maintenance".

5. Click on "Download". After the download completes click on "Cancel" to exit the "Maintenance" window. GO TO THE REPROGRAMMING PROCEDURE.

6. Scan Tool Viewer (STV) ONLY (MEDIC-II USERS go to the Programming Procedure). Verify that your MUT-III has the most current version of the reprogramming database:

a. From the MUT-III Main Page confirm your MUT-III version is Ver 24.0.

^ If the version displayed on your MUT-III Main Page is lower than version 24, locate the MUT-III Scan Tool Viewer CD (ver 24.0) and follow the instructions on the CD label to update your MUT-III.
