DTC B1304: Top stack POS.sensor: Up&Down=ON






CIRCUIT OPERATION

- The convertible top control module judges the convertible top operating state based on the signals from the sensors and switches.
- The convertible top position switch is the one of those switches. Signals from the UP and DOWN switches are input through different circuits and output to the convertible top control module according to the opening state of the convertible top.





DTC SET CONDITION

When the signals from both the UP and DOWN switches indicate "ON", this DTC is set as a convertible top switch error.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS

- Seizure of the UP or DOWN switch of the convertible top position switch
- Short circuit between the UP or DOWN switch signal lines of the convertible top position switch
- Malfunction of the convertible top control module

DIAGNOSIS

Required Special Tool

- MB992006: Extra fine probe

STEP 1. Convertible top position switch check

Check for continuity at the convertible top position switch.





Q. Is the check result satisfactory?

YES Go to Step 2.
NO Replace the convertible top position switch.
STEP 2. Measure the voltage at the convertible top control module connector.

(1)Close the convertible top.





(2)Disconnect convertible top control module connector F-26, and measure at the wiring harness side.





(3)Measure the voltage between terminal 15 and ground.

- The measured value should be 0 volt.

Q. Is the check result satisfactory?

YES Go to Step 4.

NO Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check convertible top control module connector F-26 and convertible top position switch connector F-29 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector.





Q. Is the check result satisfactory?

YES Check the wiring harness between convertible top control module connector F-26 (terminal 14, 15) and convertible top position switch connector F-29 (terminal 1, 3). Repair as necessary.

NO Repair or replace the damaged component(s).

STEP 4. Recheck the DTC.

Q. Is DTC B1304 set?

YES Replace the convertible top control module.
