CHANGES TO 4B1 NON-TURBO ENGINE
CRANKSHAFT AND RELATED PARTS
PURPOSE
The 4B1 non-turbo engine crankshaft and flywheel/drive plate retaining bolts were changed on Affected Vehicles beginning with late September 2010 production. This TSB provides details of the changes.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
2008-2011 Lancer
2009-2011 Lancer
2008-2011 Outlander
2011 Outlander Sport
DETAILS
1. Changed the shape of the crankshaft flange and the crankshaft material.
2. Increased the length of the flywheel bolt and drive plate bolt shafts.
NOTE:
Bolt torque specifications are unchanged.
INTERCHANGEABILITY
A new type crankshaft can be installed on earlier model year vehicles when used with new type bolts for flywheel or drive plate attachment.
