Inspection Procedure 24

INSPECTION PROCEDURE 24: Only the satellite radio cannot be heard normally.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
- The wiring harness or connectors may have loose, corroded, or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector
- The satellite radio tuner may be defective
- The radio, CD player and CD changer may be defective
- The DIN cable may be defective
- The antenna feeder cable may be defective.

DIAGNOSIS

STEP 1. Check satellite radio tuner connector D-44 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector.

Q: Is satellite radio tuner connector D-44 in good condition?

YES : Go to Step 2.

NO : Repair the damaged parts. Then, check that the satellite radio is normal.

STEP 2. Check the battery power supply circuit to the satellite radio tuner. Measure the voltage at satellite radio tuner connector D-44.

1. Disconnect satellite radio tuner connector D-44 and measure the voltage available at the wiring harness side of the connector.

2. Measure the voltage between terminal 1 and ground.
- The voltage should measure approximately 12 volts (battery positive voltage).

Q: Is the measured voltage approximately 12 volts (battery positive voltage)?

YES : Go to Step 4.

NO : Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check the wiring harness between satellite radio tuner connector D-44 (terminal 1) and the battery.

- Check the wiring harness for open circuit and short circuit.

NOTE: Also check joint connector C-01 and intermediate connector C-25 for loose, corroded, or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. If joint connector C-01 and intermediate connector C-25 are damaged, repair or replace the damaged component(s).

Q: Is the wiring harness between satellite radio tuner connector D-44 (terminal 1) and battery in good condition?

YES : No action is necessary and testing is complete.

NO : The wiring harness may be damaged or the connector(s) may have loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. Repair the wiring harness as necessary. Check that the satellite radio is normal.

STEP 4. Check the ground circuit to the satellite radio tuner. Measure the resistance at satellite radio tuner connector D-44.

1. Disconnect satellite radio tuner connector D-44 and measure the resistance available at the wiring harness side of the connector.

2. Measure the resistance value between terminal 8 and ground.
- The resistance should be 2 ohms or less.

Q: Is the measured resistance 2 ohms or less?

YES : Go to Step 6.

NO : Go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Check the wiring harness between satellite radio tuner connector D-44 (terminal 8) and ground.

- Check the ground wire for open circuit.

Q: Is the wiring harness between satellite radio tuner connector D-44 (terminal 8) and ground in good condition?

YES : No action is necessary and testing is complete.

NO : The wiring harness may be damaged or the connector(s) may have loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. Repair the wiring harness as necessary. Check that the satellite radio is normal.

STEP 6. Check the DIN cable connector shape and engagement between the satellite radio tuner and the radio, the CD player, and CD changer.

Q: Is there any abnormality to the DIN cable connector shape and engagement between the satellite radio tuner and the radio, the CD player, and CD changer?

YES : Go to Step 7.

NO : Replace the DIN cable, the satellite radio tuner, or the radio, CD player and CD changer. Check that the satellite radio is normal.

STEP 7. DIN cable inspection between the satellite radio tuner and the radio, CD player, and CD changer

Q: Is the DIN cable between the satellite radio tuner and the radio, CD player, and CD changer normal?

YES : Go to Step 8.

NO : Replace the DIN cable. Check that the satellite radio is normal.

STEP 8. Temporarily replace the satellite radio tuner, and check that it is possible to listen to the satellite radio.

Q: When the satellite radio tuner is temporarily replaced, is it possible to listen to the satellite radio?

YES : Replace the satellite radio tuner. Check that the satellite radio is normal.

NO : Replace the antenna feeder cable. Check that the satellite radio is normal.
