DTC B1311 TN panel sensor: Close&Open=ONTonneau Sensor Circuit:
CIRCUIT OPERATION
The convertible top control module judges the tonneau panel state based on the signals from the tonneau sensor provided on the tonneau drive cylinder and right and left tonneau latch switches (Ready to latch). The tonneau sensor and tonneau latch switches (Ready to latch) set the following signals to the convertible top control module according to the tonneau panel state.
DTC SET CONDITION
This DTC is set when the signal from either right or left tonneau latch switch (Ready to latch) (LH) and the signal from the tonneau sensor are turned ON simultaneously.
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
- ON failure of tonneau latch switch (Ready to latch) (including short circuit of signal line)
- ON failure of tonneau sensor (including defective power supply line or signal line)
- Malfunction of the convertible top control module
NOTE: When ON failure occurs in either tonneau latch switch (Ready to latch), DTC B1305 or B1306 is set at the same time.
DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tool
- MB991958 Scan Tool (M.U.T.-III Sub Assembly)
- MB991824: V.C.I.
- MB991827 M.U.T.-III USB Cable
- MB991910 M.U.T.-III Main Harness A
- MB992006: Extra fine probe
STEP 1. Using scan tool MB991958, read the diagnostic trouble code.
Q: Is DTC B1305 or B1306 set?
YES [DTC B1305 is set] : Perform troubleshooting for DTC B1305. B1305
YES [DTC B1306 is set] : Perform troubleshooting for DTC B1306. B1306
NO : Go to Step 2.
STEP 2. Using scan tool MB991958, check data list.
1. Close the convertible top.
2. Use scan tool MB991958 to check the following service data. Refer to Data List Reference Table. Data List Reference Table [Eclipse Spyder]
- Item 14: Tonneau sensor up
OK: "OFF" appears.
Q: Is the check result satisfactory?
YES : Go to Step 6.
NO : Go to Step 3.
STEP 3. Check convertible top control module connector D-45 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector.
Q: Is the check result satisfactory?
YES : Go to Step 4.
NO : Repair or replace the damaged component(s).
STEP 4. Check the harness between convertible top control module connector D-45 (terminal 47, 45) and Tonneau sensor connector D-39 (terminal 2, 1).
Q: Is the check result satisfactory?
YES : Replace the tonneau sensor. Then go to Step 5.
NO : Repair the harness wire.
STEP 5. Using scan tool MB991958, check data list.
Use scan tool MB991958 to check the following service data. Refer to Data List Reference Table. Data List Reference Table [Eclipse Spyder]
- Item 14: Tonneau sensor up
OK: "OFF" appears.
Q: Is the check result satisfactory?
YES : The procedure is complete.
NO : Replace the convertible top control module.
STEP 6. Recheck the DTC.
Q: Is DTC B1311 set?
YES : Replace the convertible top control module.
NO : Intermittent malfunction (Refer to general (electrical), How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).
