Audio/Navigation - 'AUX' Not Shown On Display
No: TSB-08-54-009DATE: May, 2008
MODEL: 2009 Lancer
Subject:
"AUX" NOT DISPLAYED ON AUDIO NAVIGATION DISPLAY (A.N.D.) SYSTEM
PURPOSE
The audio AUX mode will not be displayed or function on the port or dealer installed accessory Audio Navigation Display (A.N.D.) System. The condition is due to a missing ground for the RCA circuit detection wire, which prevents the A.N.D. System from recognizing an auxiliary playback device.
This TSB provides instructions for modifying the existing wiring harness to provide a ground to display the AUX function.
NOTE:
This TSB applies only to vehicles where the accessory A.N.D. System has been installed previously by the dealer or at the Port of Entry. For new dealer installed accessory installations, perform the modifications as instructed, but do not submit a warranty claim.
AFFECTED VEHICLE(S)
2009 Lancer according to the chart above released from port stock before May 28, 2008.
REQUIRED OPERATIONS
1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. Press the PWR button on left side of the A.N.D.
2. Select the MODE button on the left side of the A.N.D.
3. If the AUX field is NOT displayed (below left), repair as described in this TSB.
^ If the AUX field is displayed (below right), this TSB does not apply.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
4. Remove the A.N.D. System from the dash.
5. Locate the 24 pin connector on the A.N.D. harness.
6. Locate the light green (LG) wire behind the 24 pin connector and cut off the wire as close to the connector as possible.
CAUTION:
Ensure that no other wires are cut.
7. Pull the LG wire out of the bundled wires.
8. Locate the wiring harness for the 20 pin connector. Bundle the LG wire with the harness as shown, using electrical tape.
9. Locate the black (GND) wire from the 20 pin connector and route the LG wire along side of it as shown.
Light green and black wires properly bundled and routed.
10. Attach a splice connector to join the LG wire to the black (GND) wire. After the splice connector is secured and locked, pull on the wires to assure a firm connection has been established.
11. Position the splice connector so that it rests between the sub harness wire bundle and the A.N.D. unit case, so that there is no possibility for the connector to hit the surrounding I/P area during reinstallation.
12. Use a black marker to place a dot on the 20-pin connector to identify the harness that has been modified.
13. After modification of the A.N.D. harness is complete and the unit is reinstalled, check that the AUX is displayed and functioning properly by touching the screen and confirming that the system responds.
