Procedure

Disassembly

1. Place the rear windows in the full down position record the radio presets then disconnect the negative terminal at the battery.

2. Remove the inner door trim assembly (refer to the Service Manual Group 52A, Door Trim, P. 52A-13.)





3. Remove the screw retaining the forward end of the outer door beltline weatherstrip.





4. Remove the inner and outer rear door beltline weatherstrip.





5. Peel back the upper area of the rear door waterproof film as shown.





6. Partially remove the rear door window runchannel at the quarter glass area as shown.

NOTE:
IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO COMPLETELY REMOVE THE RUNCHANNEL FROM THE VEHICLE.





7. Remove and retain the three (3) screws securing the rear door window sash. Lift the door weatherstrip in the area directly above the sash to access the upper screw.





8. To remove the rear door window sash pull it down slightly to release the locating tab at the top of the sash and then forward away from the quarter glass. Holding quarter glass to ensure that it is not displaced pull the sash up and out from the inside of the door.

NOTE:
DO NOT REMOVE THE QUARTER GLASS.

9. Look through the opening in the door where the waterproof film has been removed. If a latch cover is present it must be removed using the following instructions.

NOTE:
The removal of the latch cover is to be implemented in production earlier than the change of the door sash. Some vehicles will have the old door sash but the cover will have been removed.





a. Use a small screwdriver to rotate the white locking tab from latch release rod and remove the rod from the latch assembly.








b. Insert a screw driver between the latch cover and the latch body. Gently twist the screw driver to release the cover from the latch body.

NOTE:
IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO REMOVE THE LATCH ASSEMBLY FROM THE VEHICLE.





C. Remove the cover from the vehicle and discard it. Reattach the latch release rod and secure the rod with the white clip.

Reassembly





Install the new longer length (35 mm) door window sash. See the Parts Information section of this bulletin for part numbers.

1. Install the door window sash and secure it with the 3 attaching screws using the following steps.





a. Slide the new sash into position from the inside.





b. Position the sash so that the quarter glass is inserted into its channel by pulling the sash towards the quarter glass.

NOTE:
ENSURE THAT THE MOVING GLASS IS POSITIONED WITHIN ITS CHANNEL.








c. Align the top screw hole and ensure that the tab of the sash is properly aligned in its notch. Then secure the top screw (1) finger tight. Loosely install the bottom sash retaining screw (2).

d. Loosely install the center screw (3) and then torque the all three screws to spec.





2. Install the runchannel pushing it down between the door window sash and the glass as shown in the photo at the left. Ensure there are no gaps in the area where the edge protector runchannel and quarter glass meet the door frame. Ensure that the runchannel has a smooth appearance.

3. Reinstall the waterproof film. Ensure that there are no gaps in the adhesive holding it to the door.

4. Reinstall the inner and outer beltline moldings. Reinstall the retaining screw for the front of the outer belt line molding.

5. Reinstall the door trim. Pay special attention to ensuring that the electrical connector and door release cables are properly installed.

6. Reconnect the battery.

7. Reset the radio presets.

Confirmation

Confirm that all items affected by the repair procedure function correctly and fit properly.

^ Roll the windows up and down several times to ensure smooth travel.

^ Ensure that the door locks function correctly and that the doors latch unlatch lock and unlock correctly. Ensure that the child safety locks function correctly.

^ Ensure the audio speakers are heard clearly.

^ Drive the vehicle to insure that there is no wind noise from the repaired areas.
