DTC B2206: VIN code mismatchDTC SET CONDITION
WCM sets DTC B2206 when VIN registered in it and VIN that has been transmitted on the CAN bus do not match.
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
WCM determines that the abnormality is present when VIN registered in it and the one that has been transmitted on the CAN bus do not match.

- Malfunction of WCM
- VIN registered in ECM unmatched
- WCM being registered to another vehicle
DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
- MB991958: Scan Tool (M.U.T.-III Sub Assembly)
- MB991824: Vehicle Communication Interface (V.C.I.)
- MB991827: M.U.T.-III USB Cable
- MB991910: M.U.T.-III Main Harness A
STEP 1. Check the VIN registered in ECM
Check if VIN registered in the ECM matches with the vehicle's VIN.
Q: Do VIN registered in the ECM and the vehicle's VIN match?
YES : Go to Step 2.
NO : Replace the ECM and record VIN (Refer to general (Body and Chassis) How to Perform Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Writing). Record VIN and go to Step 2.
STEP 2. Check whether the diagnosis code is reset.
Recheck if the diagnosis code is set.
CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool MB991958, always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool MB991958.
1. Connect scan tool MB991958. "How to connect the Scan Tool (M.U.T.-III)". Scan Tool Connecting
2. Erase the DTC.
3. Turn the ignition switch from the "LOCK" (OFF) position to the "ON" position.
4. Check if the diagnosis code is set.
Q: Is the DTC set?
YES : Replace WCM and register the ID codes.
NO : The diagnosis is complete.
