AFFECTED VEHICLE(S)
Certain 2008 Lancer Evolution vehicles built prior to August 26th, 2008.
CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
A letter will be sent to all owners of affected vehicles with a corrected French language tire pressure label (RENSEIGNEMENTS SUR PNUEMATIQUES ET CHARGEMENTS) instructing them to affix the corrected label to the vehicle if the existing label is incorrect. If they do not wish to affix the label themselves, they can bring it to a Mitsubishi Motors dealer to have it installed. For your reference a sample of the owner's letter is shown in this bulletin. If a customer wishes to have the dealer install the label, follow the instructions in this bulletin.
REQUIRED OPERATIONS
IMPORTANT NOTE:
All affected new or used inventory vehicles must have the corrected label installed before the vehicle is sold. A list of affected VINs in your dealership's inventory will be sent to you separately, along with a quantity of correct labels where applicable. If a VIN on this list was recently sold, please contact the owner to bring their vehicle in for this label installation.
Before starting this recall campaign procedure, CHECK THE VIN LIST provided to verify that the vehicle is an affected VIN for this campaign. If the vehicle is/was involved in a dealer trade, the original ordering dealer will be responsible for notifying the dealer they traded it to and provide them with the correct label.
1. Open the driver's door and inspect the French language tire pressure label located on the driver's side B-pillar.
2. Refer to figure 1 above and inspect the DIMENSIONS listed for the spare tire (SECOURS) on the label.
^ If the DIMENSIONS indicate T145/70R18, do not replace the label - it is correct and the vehicle can be released.
^ If the DIMENSIONS indicate T145/70D18 the label must be replaced. Clean the area of the incorrect label with isopropyl alcohol on a clean rag and affix the correct label over the original.
Only replace the French label if it exhibits the letter "D" in the specification of the spare tire as illustrated.
