DTC B1761: VIN Not Recorded

CAUTION: Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
If the VIN data are not written when the ETACS-ECU is replaced, the ETACS-ECU sets diagnosis code

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
- VIN not written
- Damaged harness wires and connectors.
- Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU.

DIAGNOSIS

Required Special Tools:
- MB991958: Scan Tool (M.U.T.-III Sub Assembly)
- MB991824: V.C.I.
- MB991827: M.U.T.-III USB Cable
- MB991910: M.U.T.-III Main Harness A

Write the VIN.
Write the VIN data to the ETACS-ECU. [Refer to How to perform vehicle identification number (VIN) writing]

Q: Is DTC B1761 set?

YES: Replace the ETACS-ECU and register the ID codes.

NO: The procedure is complete.
