APS-RELATED DTC INSPECTIONS
APS-Related DTC Inspections - 2004-on Endeavor & Galant, 2006-on Eclipse/Eclipse Spyder. On vehicles with the accelerator pedal position sensor (APS), unintended APS-related DTCs may be stored if the battery voltage is extremely low (less than 6 volts). If any of these APS-related codes are encountered (P0220, P1225, P2128, P2138), use the following guidelines to diagnose the condition:
1. Ask the customer if the battery has been run down or dead.
2. If the battery has been dead, the DTC was probably caused by the dead battery and not by a malfunction of the APS-related system. Clear the DTC. Ask the customer to drive the vehicle to see if the code returns.
3. If the battery has never been run down or dead, proceed with APS-related DTC diagnosis procedure to see if there is a malfunction.
