Interior - Seat Cover Pre-Replacement Inspection
No: TSB-07-52A-002DATE: August, 2007
MODEL: See Below
SUBJECT:
SEAT COVER PRE-REPLACEMENT INSPECTION
PURPOSE
Owners of affected vehicles may notice what looks like a discoloration of the seat material. This may be misdiagnosed as wear. The seat material has a backing that matches the seat surface in color and is
made of orange colored fibers. Therefore, the color of the seat will not change as a result of wear. In this case, a worn seat would still appear to be Terra Cotta, not beige. The beige color is due to a foreign substance. Prior to replacing any seat cover, clean it as described in this bulletin.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
^ 2006 - on Eclipse with Terra Cotta interior
^ 2007 - on Eclipse Spyder with Terra Cotta interior
PROCEDURE
Use white cotton towels and a solution of warm water and mild detergent (Resolve(TM) or an equivalent may be used) to remove deposits of foreign material.
1. Spray the warm water/detergent mixture onto the affected area of the seat. Rub the area with the white cotton towel. You will be able to see the deposits transfer to the white towels during the cleaning process.
2. Rotate the towel frequently to move to an unused section. Repeat the cleaning steps until all of the beige deposits have been removed.
3. The Terra Cotta material will return to ITS original color after it has been allowed to dry.
