Audio System - CD's Will Not Eject

No: TSB-06-54-007
DATE: September, 2006
MODEL: See below

SUBJECT:
CD WILL NOT EJECT

PURPOSE
Improper alignment between the audio unit and CD opening on the audio unit face plate may cause difficulty ejecting CDs.

The position of the audio unit opening may be slightly higher than the opening on the faceplate. Follow the procedures in this bulletin to remove the two locator pins on the instrument panel to allow the audio unit to sit slightly lower.

AFFECTED VEHICLES
2006-2007 Eclipse
2007 Eclipse Spyder

PROCEDURE

1. Using a trim stick, carefully remove the audio unit faceplate.

2. Remove the four screws from the upper and lower audio unit mounting brackets.

NOTE:
To prevent damage to the audio unit and wiring remove the audio unit from the vehicle and tuck the harness back in the dash.

3. Using a utility knife or other suitable tool, carefully cut off the two plastic locator pins (one on each side) flush with the instrument panel.

4. Reinstall the audio unit.

IMPORTANT:
Install the top two screws first. Make sure the audio unit is located on the top screws. Then tighten the two screws.

5. Reinstall and tighten the bottom two screws.

6. Reinstall the audio unit faceplate.

NOTE:
Be sure that the electrical connections are securely made.

7. In order to eject a CD, the LOAD/EJECT button and one of the disc selection buttons must be pressed. To confirm proper operation, insert and remove a CD several times in random order.
