PURPOSE
The rear suspension stay on the right side of affected vehicles was incorrectly stamped in the center of its mounting point. This condition may reduce the vehicle ride quality. Dealers should replace the right side rear suspension stay as described in this bulletin.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
2006 Galant and Eclipse models produced between 12/2/05 and 12/5/05
CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
A letter will be sent to all registered owners, asking them to return their vehicle to their Mitsubishi Motors dealer for rear suspension stay replacement. A sample copy of the letter is shown in this bulletin.
PROCEDURE
1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Replace the right side rear replacement stay as follows:
a. Remove the bolt and nut to remove the stay.
b. Ensure the crossmember bolt is tightened to 110 + 15 Nm (81 + 11 ft./lbs).
c. Install the new stay (listed in the PARTS INFORMATION section of this bulletin).
d. Torque the bolts securing the stay to 110 + 15 Nm (81 + 11 ft/lbs).
e. Torque the nuts securing the stay to 70-95 Nm (52-70 ft/lbs).
PARTS INFORMATION
An appropriate quantity of replacement parts will be automatically sent to dealers that were shipped affected vehicles.
