Body - Roof Rail Molding loose

PURPOSE

Due to a modification in the clear coating process, some affected vehicles may have a loose roof rail moulding. Unless it is damaged or missing do not replace the roof rail moulding. Re-secure the moulding using the procedure described in this bulletin.

AFFECTED VEHICLES
2006 Eclipse

PROCEDURE

1. Gently remove the roof rail from the vehicle.

2. Clean the area on the roof (the rail gutter) with a clean rag dampened with isopropyl alcohol.

3. Remove any loose dirt and debris from the roof rail adhesive strip.

4. Apply a bead of 3M Clear Plastic and Emblem Adhesive 08061 or equivalent to the rail gutter adhesive tape seating area.

5. Use a plastic squeegee or a piece of clean cardboard to spread the adhesive out a little wider than the width of the adhesive strip.

6. Reinstall the roof rail to the vehicle. Apply firm pressure to seat the rail in the adhesive properly. If any of the adhesive remains visible, remove it using 3M Adhesive & Wax Remover 03607 or equivalent.

7. Allow to set for one hour.

8. Advise the customer not to wash the vehicle for at least one day.
