How To Read and Erase Diagnostic Trouble Codes

NOTE: Manufacturer does not provide a procedure for reading trouble codes without using a scan tool.

IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM TROUBLE CODE DIAGNOSIS

Retrieving and Erasing Immobilizer System Diagnostic Trouble Codes

Required Special Tool:
MB991958: Scan Tool (MUT-III Sub Assembly)
- MB991824: Vehicles Communication Interface (V.C.I.)
- MB991827: MUT-III USB Cable
- MB991911: Main Harness B (Vehicles without CAN communication system)

CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool MB991958, always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool MB991958.




1. Connect scan tool MB991958 to data link connector (16 pin).
2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
3. Use scan tool MB991958 to check or erase immobilizer system diagnostic trouble codes.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
5. Disconnect scan tool MB991958.
