Brakes - Front Brake Clicking/Squealing/Groaning Noises

BRAKE NOISE

PURPOSE
Some customers may complain of a clicking, squealing, or groaning noise when braking.

^ To minimize a clicking noise, new, improved front shims are available. The new shims have a rubber covering for noise prevention.

^ To minimize a squealing or groaning noise, new, improved front brake pads are available. The new brake pads are made of improved material which minimizes noise.

2002-03 Lancer

PROCEDURE

1. Test drive the vehicle.

2. Listen carefully for abnormal noises when braking.

a. If there is a clicking noise when braking, replace the front shims. Install the new, improved shims listed in the PARTS INFORMATION section of this bulletin.

b. If there is a squealing or groaning noise when braking, replace the front brake pads. Install the new, improved pads listed in the PARTS INFORMATION section of this bulletin.
