Recall - Emissions Vacuum Hose Routing Label
No: SC-03-001Date: October, 2003
MODEL: See Below
SUBJECT:
VACUUM HOSE ROUTING DIAGRAM LABEL
- SERVICE CAMPAIGN
PURPOSE
The Vacuum Hose Routing Diagram label on certain Galant, Eclipse, Eclipse Spyder, and Montero Sport vehicles equipped with the 3.0L, V6 engine and Montero Sport and Montero vehicles equipped with the 3.5L, V6 is incorrect and must be changed. The original label shows incorrect routing on the purge solenoid valve. The engine vacuum hose routing diagram label is often used during in-use Inspection and Maintenance (I/M) testing to verify proper emissions related components. As a result, incorrect vacuum hose routing diagram label information may cause the vehicle to fail an emissions test. A letter, with label enclosed, is being sent to all owners of affected vehicles known to MMNA, instructing them to install the new Vacuum Hose Routing Diagram label themselves. A copy of the customer notification letter is included with this bulletin. Vehicle owners who do not want to install the label are advised to ask their Mitsubishi Motors retailer to install the label at no charge.
Dealers with unsold affected vehicles in inventory must install a new label on each of these vehicles. Dealers who have unsold affected vehicles in inventory will receive a quantity of labels in a separate mailing from MMNA to install on these unsold vehicles. DO NOT order the labels from MMNA Parts.
