Inspection Procedure 26
Generator Circuit:
Connector:C-51 <M/T>, C-52 <A/T>:
CIRCUIT OPERATION
- The ECM
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
The most likely causes for this code to be set are:
- Malfunction of the charging system.
- Short circuit in the harness generator G terminal and ECM
- Short circuit in the harness generator G terminal and PCM.
- ECM failed.
- PCM failed.
DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Check the voltage at the ECM connector C-51
1. Measure the voltage between the terminal 8 and the ground under following condition. (Connectors should not be disconnected.)
a. Engine: Warm, idle
b. Radiator fan: Stopped
c. Headlight switch: OFF ON
d. Rear defogger switch: OFF ON
e. Stop light switch: OFF ON
- Voltage rises by 0.2 - 3.5 volts
If not within specifications, go to Step 2.
If within specifications, replace the generator. Then check that the malfunction is eliminated.
STEP 2. Check the harness wire between generator connector B-45 and ECM connector C-51
NOTE: Check the wire after checking intermediate connector B-13. If intermediate connector B-13 is damaged, repair or replace it. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection. Then check that the malfunction is eliminated.
If the wire between generator connector B-45 and ECM connector C-51
If the wire between generator connector B-45 and ECM connector C-51
STEP 3. Check for damage of harness connector C-51 at the ECM
If harness connector C-51
If harness connector C-51
Then check the malfunction is eliminated.
