8. Cruise Control Indicator Does Not Illuminate (Cruise Normal)

Auto-cruise Control Indicator Light Drive Circuit:

Connectors C-101, C-104:

CIRCUIT OPERATION
The power for the auto-cruise indicator in the combination meter is supplied from the ignition switch (IG1). When the auto-cruise control system is operating, the transistor inside the auto-cruise control-ECU illuminates the auto-cruise indicator through ECU terminal number 15.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
The cause is probably the malfunction of the indicator bulb or the malfunction of the connector or harness.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
The most likely causes for this code to be set are:
- Malfunction of the indicator bulb.
- Damaged connector and harness.
- Malfunction of the auto-cruise control-ECU.

DIAGNOSIS

STEP 1. Check the auto-cruise control indicator bulb.
1. Remove the combination meter.
2. Check the auto-cruise control indicator bulb.

If the bulb is blown, replace it. Then check that the malfunction is eliminated.

If the bulb is not blown, go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Check the circuit at combination meter connector C-41.
1. Disconnect connector C-41 and measure at the harness side.
2. Measure the voltage between harness connector terminal 52 and ground.
- Voltage should be system voltage (Ignition switch "ON".)

If circuit check made at connector C-41 shows system voltage, go to Step 5.

If circuit check made at connector C-41 does not show system voltage, go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check harness connectors C-41 at combination meter, C-101 and C-104 at junction block for damage.
If harness connectors C-41, C-101 and C-104 are damaged, replace them. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection.
Then check that the malfunction is eliminated.

If harness connectors C-41, C-101 and C-104 are in good condition, go to Step 4.

STEP 4. Check the harness wires between combination meter connector C41 and junction block connector C-101.
If the harness wires between the combination meter connector
C-41 and junction block connector C-101 are damaged, repair
or replace them. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection.
Then check that the malfunction is eliminated.

STEP 5. Check harness connectors C-41 and C43 at combination meter for damage.
If harness connectors C-41 and C-43 are damaged, replace them. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection.
Then check that the malfunction is eliminated.

If harness connectors C-41 and C-43 are in good condition, go to Step 6.

STEP 6. Check the circuit between combination meter connector C41 terminals 41 and 52.
1. Disconnect connector C-41 and measure at the combination meter side.
2. Measure the continuity between terminals 41 and 52

If less than 2 ohms, go to Step 8.

If open loop, go to Step 7.

STEP 7. Check the harness between combination meter connectors C-41 and C43.
If any harness wires between the combination meter connectors C-41 and C-43 are damaged, repair or replace them. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection. Then check that the malfunction is eliminated.

If the harness wires are in good condition, replace combination meter. Then check that the malfunction is eliminated.

STEP 8. Check harness connector C-20 at the auto-cruise control-ECU for damage.
If harness connector C-20 is damaged, replace it. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection.
Then check that the malfunction is eliminated.

If harness connector C-20 is in good condition, go to Step 9.

STEP 9. Check the harness between combination meter connector C-41 and auto-cruise control-ECU connector C-20.
If any harness wires between combination meter connector
C-41 and auto-cruise control-ECU connector C-20 are
damaged, repair or replace them. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection.
Then check that the malfunction is eliminated.

If the harness wires are in good condition, replace auto-cruise control-ECU. Then check that the malfunction is eliminated.
