TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)If the fuel injectors are not operating, there might be a problem with the MFI system in addition to a malfunction of the immobilizer system.
It is normal for this to occur if an attempt is made to start the engine using a key that has not been properly registered.

- Malfunction of MFI system
- Malfunction of immobilizer-ECU
DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
MB991223: Harness Set
MB991502: Scan Tool (MUT-II)
STEP 1. Check the battery positive voltage.
Measure the battery positive voltage during cranking.
- The voltage should be 8 volts or more.
If the voltage is less than 8 volts, check the battery.
The engine should start.
If the voltage is 8 volts or more, go to Step 2.
STEP 2. Check the immobilizer system DTC and MFI system DTC.
If the immobilizer system DTC resets, refer to Trouble Code Descriptions.
If the MFI system DTC resets, refer to Diagnosis (Computers/Testing).
If neither of these DTC resets, go to Step 3.
STEP 3. Check the starting system.
Refer to Diagnosis - Symptom Chart (Computers/Testing).
If a malfunction is not resolved, replace the immobilizer-ECU.
Then register the password (secret code) and encrypted code.
The engine should start.
