TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
- The engine control CPU receives various messages from the transaxle control CPU via communication line.
- The engine control CPU monitors an abnormal message signal due to open circuit in communication line and transaxle control CPU failure.

DTC SET CONDITIONS

Check Conditions
- Two seconds or more have passed immediately after the engine started.

Judgment Criteria
- Abnormal communication line (transaxle control CPU to engine control CPU) with the transaxle control CPU.
- Transaxle control CPU failed.

TROUBLESHOOTING HITS
The most likely caused for this code to be set are:
- PCM failed.

DIAGNOSIS

STEP 1. PCM replacement.
1. Replace the PCM.
2. Carry out a test drive with the drive cycle pattern. Refer to Procedure 6 - Other Monitor.
3. Read the diagnostic trouble code, and confirm that diagnostic trouble code P1600 does not reset.
