Convertible Top Headliner - Loose At Rear Glass
NO: TSB-99-42A-001DATE: January, 1999
MODEL: 1996-99 Eclipse Spyder
SUBJECT:
CONVERTIBLE TOP HEADLINER COMING LOOSE AT REAR GLASS
PURPOSE
This bulletin contains information for correcting a condition where the convertible top headliner comes loose from the rear glass.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Some customers may complain about the headliner pulling off the rear glass. This may be caused by insufficient engagement of the Velcro. The manufacturer of the top assembly has improved the stitching process of the headliner. This change allows for more attachment area between the Velcro on the headliner and that on the rear glass. The new-style headliner also has stitched side flaps to prevent the flaps from coming unglued. The complete top assembly SHOULD NOT be replaced for this condition. Replacing the headliner with the improved stitched part will correct this condition.
AFFECTED VEHICLES

PROCEDURE
Refer to section 42 in the 1999 Eclipse/Eclipse Spyder Service Manual, Volume 3 for complete headliner replacement procedures. The new headliner should be inspected before installation to make sure it is the new, updated type. See the Parts Information section of this bulletin for headliner identification criteria.
