REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
REMOVAL SERVICE POINT
[A] SIDE STAY PAD REMOVAL
1. At the stay pad to be removed, accurately mark the location of the stay pad on the bows and on the No.5 bow.
2. Accurately mark the location of the bows on the stay pad.
3. Drill out the stay pad attaching rivets at the No.1 bow with an 1/8 in. drill bit.
4. Using an awl, remove the stay pad attaching staples, and separate the stay pad from the vehicle.

]A[ SIDE STAY PAD INSTALLATION
1. Lay the new stay pad on a flat work surface. Position and align the old stay pad over the new. While holding them together, accurately transfer the bow and tackstrip reference marks, and the No.1 bow rivet locations onto the new stay pad.
NOTE: Before discarding the old stay pad, use it for reference to determine the location and quantity of the staples.
2. Position and align the new stay pad to the No.4 bow observing the reference marks on the stay pad and on the bow. Use 0.375 in. x 0.319 in. stainless steel, divergent point staples to secure it.
3. Attach the stay pad to the No.1 bow using 0.125 in. x 0.187 in. rivets.
NOTE: To prevent read-through of the stay pad rivets, gently tap the rivet heads flat and flush to the top surface of the stay pad using a small hammer.
4. Align the stay pad to the tackstrip observing the reference marks on the stay pad and on the tack strip. Use 0.375 in. x 0.319 in. stainless steel, divergent point staples to secure it.
5. Continue stapling the stay pad to the No.2 and 3 bows observing the reference marks.
6. Trim excess stay pad material. To prevent fraying, use a hot knife.
