CORRECTED CRANKSHAFT BEARING PROCEDURES (CHANGE IN SHAPE) - SERVICE MANUAL REVISION

[TSB Revision TSB-97-11-018]

PURPOSE
For the 1998 model year, the No. 3 crankshaft bearing for the 4G6 engine is changed and is now identical to the other crankshaft bearings. Also, a thrust bearing is added for the upper crankshaft bearing. This bulletin reflects these changes.

Write the TSB revision number of this bulletin in the "TSB Revision" box at the bottom of the affected service manual page.

AFFECTED VEHICLES
This bulletin affects all listed vehicles with engine numbers of UC 1709 and up.

1998 Eclipse and Eclipse Spyder equipped with 2.0L Turbo (4G6) engine
1998 Eclipse Spyder equipped with 2.4L (4G6) engine
1998 Galant
1998 Montero Sport equipped with 2.4L (4G6) engine

PARTS INFORMATION
There is no parts interchangeability between the parts for the 1998 engine (above engine number UC 1709) and earlier engines. The old style parts can only be used in engines before engine number UC 1709 and the new parts will only fit in the new style engines with engine numbers above UC 1709.
