With Automatic Transmission/Transaxle
REMOVAL
1. Remove transaxle assembly. Refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.
2. Follow removal procedure outlined in illustration.
INSTALLATION
1. Follow removal procedure in reverse order noting the following.
CAUTION: If burr or scratch is present on the crankshaft edge (chamber), clean surface with 400 grit sand paper to prevent seal damage during installation of new seal.
NOTE: When installing seal, no lube on seal is needed.
2. Place oil seal pilot installation tool No. MB995059, or equivalent, on crankshaft. This is a pilot tool has a magnetic base.
3. Position seal over pilot tool. Make sure you can read the words "THIS SIDE OUT" on seal. Pilot tool should remain on crankshaft during installation of seal.
CAUTION: If the seal is driven into the block past flush, this may cause an oil leak.
4. Drive the seal into the block using crankshaft oil seal installer tool No. MB995060, or equivalent, until the tool bottoms out against the block.
