^ If the part number is not one of the above listed numbers, or if the bar code label is missing or illegible, continue with step 2.

2. Follow the procedures in the Reprogramming Unit Instruction Manual for connecting the EATX/Engine Harness, installing the cartridge to the reprogramming unit, and connecting it to the vehicle.

3. Follow the displayed instructions on the reprogramming unit.

! CAUTION
Do not disturb or move the cables or connections as it may interrupt the reprogramming process. During reprogramming, the PCM is erased of all data and then programmed with new data. Any interruption may lose data and render the PCM useless.

4. The display will ask if you want to change the engine controller part number. Select Yes. Reprogramming will begin.

5. The current and replacement PCM part numbers will display. Record the displayed replacement PCM part number.

6. Follow the displayed instructions on the reprogramming unit to continue with the reprogramming process. When completed, disconnect the reprogramming unit and EATX/Engine Harness.

7. If the PCM cannot be programmed, the message "BREAK NOT SEEN" will be displayed and the PCM must be replaced.

^ If the PCM part number is 05293318, 05293319, 04796363, 04796364, 05293321, 05293322, or 05269641, the PCM can not be reprogrammed and must be replaced. Continue with Section D - Replacing the PCM.

8. Fill out the control module label using a ball point pen. Enter the replacement PCM part number (identified in step 5), your dealer code, and the current date on the control module label. Affix the label to the side of the PCM.

You should have a supply of these labels. The labels come on a sheet along with the Authorized Modifications engine compartment label. A quantity of these labels were sent to each dealership along with the Reprogramming Unit Kit. If you need more, order part number MSSF-023G-00A.
