Quick Learn
The QUICK LEARN function customizes adaptive parameters of the TCM to the transmission characteristics of a vehicle. This gives the customer improved "as new" shift quality compared to the initial parameters stored in the TCM.Use the QUICK LEARN function under these conditions:
1) Upon installation of a new TCM.
2) After replacement or rebuilding of internal transmission components or the torque converter.
3) If one or more of the clutch volume indexes contain skewed readings because of abnormal conditions.
4) After moving a TCM from one vehicle to another.
These conditions must be met before carrying out the Quick Learn procedures.
1) Apply the brakes.
2) Set the transmission gear selector in "Drive".
3) Engine speed must be above 500 rpm.
4) Set the throttle angle at less than 3 degrees.
5) The calculated oil temperature must be above 15°C and below 93°C.
Note
The above functions must be maintained to keep the procedures from being aborted.
QUICK LEARN Features Special Information:
Note:
1) Do not take a TCM that has been "QUICK LEARNED" on one vehicle and install it on another vehicle unless you perform QUICK LEARN after installation into the second vehicle. QUICK LEARN adapts to the particular characteristics of the vehicle's transmission. "Placing a learned" TCM on another vehicle without doing the QUICK LEARN after installation can cause poor shift quality.
2) If an unused TCM is installed on a vehicle with a HOT engine, the QUICK LEARN causes the TCM to report a cold calculated oil temperature. This requires monitoring of the calculated temperature using the MUT-II. If the temperature is below 15°C, the transmission must be run at idle or driven in gear until the temperature rises above 15°C. If the temperature is above 93°C, the transmission must cool down to below 93°C.
3) After completing the QUICK LEARN procedures, move the transmission gear selector from "Drive" position to "Park".
