Removal and Installation
REMOVAL
1. Relieve pressure in the fuel pipe line to prevent fuel outflow.
NOTE: Cover the fuel pipe line with a shop towel after relieving pressure as some pressure may still remain.
2. Drain engine coolant.
3. Refer to the illustration for the removal steps, noting the following:
4. Remove fuel rail with fuel injector and pressure regulator on.
CAUTION: Do not drop fuel injector when removing fuel rail.
INSTALLATION
1. Reverse the removal procedure to install, noting the following:
2. Apply a small amount of new engine oil to the O-ring of the fuel rail, fuel injector and pressure regulator assembly.
3. When connecting the high-pressure fuel hose to the fuel rail, apply a small amount of new engine oil to the hose union, and then insert, being careful not to damage the O-ring.
CAUTION: Do not let engine oil get into the fuel rail.
