SUBJECT:
FUEL TANK SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN
PURPOSE
Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America, Inc. is voluntarily recalling 1995-96 Eclipse GSX vehicles to correct a fuel system condition which could cause fuel leakage. The fuel pump and fuel gauge gaskets in the tank openings could roll inside the tank, creating a gap that could allow fuel to leak out.
Follow the instructions in this campaign bulletin to install the fuel tank repair kit. The new fuel tank, and the fuel pump and gauge unit retaining caps and gaskets in the kit have been redesigned to prevent any portion of the gasket from rolling inside the tank.

All 1995-96 Eclipse GSX models
CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
A letter will be sent to all owners of affected vehicles, instructing them to return their vehicle to their Mitsubishi dealer to have this campaign procedure performed at no charge. A copy of this letter is shown in this bulletin.
Vehicle owners should be advised to make an appointment to ensure the fuel tank repair kits are available at the dealership.
