REAR SHOCK ABSORBER NOISE

PURPOSE

On some affected vehicles, the rear shock absorbers may cause a light thumping or knocking noise when traveling on bumpy roads. To eliminate the noise, replace the rear shock absorbers with parts listed in this bulletin.

AFFECTED VEHICLES

- 1994-96 Galant models produced before 4/1/96
- 1995-96 Eclipse models produced before 4/1/96

PROCEDURE

1. Test drive the vehicle to confirm that the noise is coming from the rear shock absorbers.

2. Replace both rear shock absorbers, using parts listed in this bulletin.






a. To ensure proper parts replacement, check the lot number stamped on the replacement shock absorber. Be sure to install the appropriate part number in accordance with the chart in the PARTS INFORMATION section of this bulletin.






NOTE:
Lot numbers are determined by part production year, month and date.
