Ignition Lock: Service and Repair
Refer to Technician Safety Information for Air Bag Arming and Disarming.1. Remove steering wheel as outlined under Steering Wheel.
2. Remove instrument panel lower cover.

3. Remove plug, then remove hood lock release handle, Fig. 7.
4. Remove upper and lower column covers.
5. On models equipped with air bag, remove clock spring. Refer to Technician Safety Information.
6. Remove column switch.
7. Remove ignition key illumination light.
8. Insert key in ignition lock cylinder and turn to Acc position.

9. Using a Phillips tip screwdriver, or equivalent, push lockpin of ignition lock cylinder inward, then pull ignition lock cylinder out, Fig. 8.
10. Remove key reminder switch segment and key hole illumination lamp if equipped.
12. Remove ignition switch segment.
13. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Apply a light coat of multi-purpose grease to areas shown, then ensure proper operation of key interlock system.
