Water Pump: Service and Repair

REPLACEMENT
1. Refer to the illustration for the service procedure, noting the following:

2. Drain the engine coolant.
3. Remove the timing belt cover.





4. Insert the O-ring to the water pump groove, and coat the circumference of the O-ring with water or engine coolant. By coating with water or engine coolant, the insertion to the cylinder block will become easier.

NOTE:
- Do not allow engine oil or other grease to adhere to the O-ring.
- When inserting the water pump, check that there is no sand, dirt, or debris, on its inner surface.

5. Reverse procedure to install, torquing the mounting bolts to 12 - 15 Nm (8.7 - 11 ft. lbs.).
