Coolant Line/Hose: Service and Repair
REPLACEMENT
1. Refer to the illustration for the service procedure, noting the following:
2. Drain the engine coolant.
3. Remove the air hose and turbocharger.
4. Reverse the procedure to install, noting the following:
5. Check the water pipe and hose for cracks, damage, clogs and replace them if necessary.
6. After making mating marks on the radiator lower hose and the hose clamp, disconnect the radiator hose.
7. Insert the O-ring to the water inlet pipe, and coat the outer circumference of the O-ring with water or engine coolant.
NOTE: Do not allow engine oil or other grease to adhere to the O-ring. Also, tighten the M6 x 10 bolt(s) to 5 Nm (4 ft. lbs.), the bolt(s) to M6 x 12 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.) and the M8 to 13 Nm (9 ft. lbs.).
8. Squeeze out Mitsubishi Genuine Parts No. MD970389, or equivalent sealant, from the tube evenly and apply it so that there is not too much sealant and no places without sealant.
9. Align the mating marks on the radiator hose and hose clamp, and then connect the radiator hose.
