Difficult to Close Sunshade

CONDITION:

Difficult to Close Sunshade

If the sunshade requires excessive effort to open and close, perform the following steps in order. All steps may not be required.

1. Verify that the trim around the sunroof opening is properly installed and does not interfere with sunshade operation. Slide off a portion of the trim and verify that the trim is installed with the ribbed side down. If not, remove and reinstall trim properly.

2. Verify that the trim around the sunroof opening is seated properly over the headliner and sunroof housing. It should not be positioned over the slide rails. Adjust if necessary.

3. Remove sunshade. Examine the sunshade side tabs to ensure they are not cracked or broken. If so, replace the sunshade. Be sure that the slide blocks are properly installed in the guide rails when installing the sunshade.

4. Increase sunshade clearance by adjusting the sunroof housing. Grasp the sunroof tray (roof area under sunshade) and pull it down slightly until there is enough clearance for the sunshade without allowing a gap for sunlight to go through.
