Sunroof - Difficult Sunshade Operation
NO.: TSB-97-42A-002DATE: January, 1997
MODEL: 1995-96 Eclipse
Subject:
SUNROOF SUNSHADE OPERATION
PURPOSE
On some affected vehicles, the sunroof sunshade may become difficult to move or slide out of its track in the sunroof guide assembly. This may be due to one or both of the sunshade slops becoming deformed. To correct this condition, new, sturdier sunshade stops are now available. The new stops are installed during production of Eclipse models produced after 3/96.
This bulletin describes how to replace sunshade stops to improve sunshade operation.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
1995-96 Eclipse
Models equipped with sunroof produced before 4/96
PROCEDURE
1. Open the sunroof to its fully open position.
2. Remove the sunshade stop from the left and right sunroof guides. The stops are located near the center of each guide.
3. Inspect each sunshade stop to determine if it is deformed or its ends are rounded. If either stop is deformed or its ends are not straight, replace both stops, using the part number listed in the PARTS INFORMATION section of this bulletin.
IMPORTANT:
Replace both sunshade stops during repair, even if only one is damaged.
4. Close the sunroof and verify that the sunshade operates properly.
