Fig. 6 Driveshaft Assembly Service:
Disassemble driveshaft in numbered sequence shown in Fig. 6, noting the following:
1. Remove snap ring from driveshaft.
2. Remove spider assembly from driveshaft. Do not disassemble spider assembly. If Tripod Joint (TJ) of driveshaft assembly is bent, joint may be damaged.
3. Clean spider assembly.
4. Wrap tape around splines of driveshaft so boot are not damaged when removed.
5. Remove TJ and Birfield Joint (BJ) boots off driveshaft.
6. Wipe grease off BJ. Do not disassemble.
7. Reverse numbered sequence to assemble, noting the following:
a. Wrap tape around splines of driveshaft.
b. Install BJ boot, bands, TJ boot and bands in that sequence.
c. Fill inside of BJ and BJ boot with special grease.
d. Secure BJ boot bands ensuring that driveshaft is at 0° angle to the BJ.
e. Apply special grease to the spider assembly.

f. Install spider assembly with chamfered spline end first, Fig. 7.
g. Set TJ boot bands 3.23-3.47 inches apart in order to adjust amount of air inside TJ boot then tighten TJ boot band securely.
