PURPOSE
When diagnosing the idle position switch condition (item 26 in the Scan Tool Data List), the information in the service manual may not be enough to make an accurate diagnosis. This bulletin adds a note to the chart that provides more information to allow the technician to make an informed decision.

ADDED NOTE
The following note will help to determine when the idle switch condition is normal:
"The idle switch is considered normal if it turns off when TPS voltage rises 50-100 mV above the idle value. If the throttle must be opened wider; i.e., if it takes more than a 100-mV rise to turn off the idle switch, then adjust the idle switch and TPS."
