Horn Button Replacement
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Horn buttons on some affected vehicles may spontaneously pop out of the steering wheel. New horn buttons of improved design are now available, which have longer holding claws. The horn button and horn switch are supplied together in one unit. The new buttons are listed in the "Parts Information" section of this Technical Service Bulletin.
VEHICLES AFFECTED
1994-95 3000GT and Diamante models produced before 9/19/94.
PROCEDURE
Install new, improved horn buttons as follows:
1. Record radio pre-set stations and radio code.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the Supplemental Restraint System (air bag) module.
CAUTION:
Refer to Section 528 of the appropriate Service Manual for SRS removal and installation instructions. Observe all SRS handling precautions.
4. Remove and discard the horn buttons (one Phillips screw each).
5. Install the appropriate horn buttons listed in the "Parts Information" section of this Service Bulletin.
6. Reinstall the Supplemental Restraint System (air bag) module.
7. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
8. If necessary, reset the SRS code.
9. Reset radio code and radio stations.
10. Reset clock.
