MODEL: 1995-96 3000GT Spyder
SUBJECT:
OPERATIONAL CHARACTERISTICS 3000GT SPYDER
PURPOSE
This Technical Service Bulletin describes some operational characteristics that customers may encounter under certain conditions while operating the hardtop. These characteristic occurrences do not affect the function of the hardtop. These incidents may not be noticed by the untrained observer and do not indicate a problem or malfunction.
A characteristic is an occurrence that is normal. To ease confusion, educate the owner that these characteristics may happen, that they are normal, and that they are not an indication of a problem.

DESCRIPTION
CHARACTERISTICS
^ Time delay of approximately 1 second when pressing the hardtop "OPEN/CLOSE" switch.
This is normal and usually happens only when the hardtop is fully open or fully closed. Once the hardtop is anywhere in its travel, except when fully open or closed, the reaction of the hardtop to the switch input is simultaneous. The delay is caused by the ECU being in the "sleep" mode when the hardtop is fully open or closed. When the switch is pressed, the ECU must reinitialize itself to "wake up", thus causing the delay.
^ The passenger door window switch does not operate the window when the hardtop is operating.
This is normal. The passenger door window system is directly wired into the hardtop ECU. Any input from the door window switch is overridden by this ECU only when the hardtop "OPEN/CLOSED" switch is pressed The window will operate normally whenever the hardtop switch is released.
^ When the hardtop operates, the driver's door window switch does not operate the window until the window fully lowers or raises.
This is normal. The driver's door window system is indirectly wired into the hardtop ECU. Unlike the passenger door, the driver's door uses external relays to control the window system. Any input from the door window switch is overridden by the hardtop ECU only during the time that the door windows are actually controlled by the hardtop ECU. As soon as the hardtop ECU senses a stall of the driver's door window motor, the window can be operated normally even while operating the hardtop.
^ During operation of the hardtop, the chime and LED suddenly turn off when the passenger door window switch is pressed.
This is normal. Rather than having the chime make a sound that is different from normal sound or having the LED flash in a different manner, the hardtop ECU eliminates the chime and LED altogether.
