A/C - Poor Performance/High Gauge Readings
SOURCE: Mitsubishi Tech Talk Article August 2004TITLE: A/C Poor Performance/High Gauge Readings
APPLIES TO: All models
SERVICE TIP:
Air or moisture in the A/C system can cause poor cooling performance and/or higher-than-normal gauge readings. Take the following precautions during A/C servicing to minimize air and moisture entry into the A/C system:
Use a piece of duct tape to seal open hose connections during repairs. Keep the sealing caps on new components until they are installed.
When adding oil after parts replacement, don't leave the oil container open.
Evacuate the A/C system for at least 30 minutes, to allow sufficient time to remove moisture in the system.
Do not use mineral spirits, ATF, or non-approved solvents to flush the system.
During pressure testing, be sure the charging hoses are properly purged of air before connecting to the system. Refer to the charge station's instructions for purging procedures.
