Shock Absorber

1. Remove cover in luggage compartment to access shock absorber.

2. Remove shock absorber assembly in numbered sequence as shown, Fig. 17, noting the following:
a. Raise and support rear suspension before removing shock absorber.
b. Remove shock absorber upper and lower mounting bolts, then the shock absorber assembly.

3. Disassemble shock absorber assembly in numbered sequence as shown, Fig. 19, noting the following:
a. Before removing piston rod nut, compress coil spring using suitable coil spring compression tool.
b. While holding piston rod, remove piston rod nut.
4. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Using a suitable coil spring, compress and insert coil spring on shock absorber.

b. Align edge of coil spring to position as shown, Fig. 20.

c. Fit dust cover over dust cup as shown, Fig. 21.
d. Position upper bracket as shown, then tighten piston nut to specifications.

e. Install coil spring ensuring lower edge fits into spring seat groove and upper edge fits into spring pad groove, then remove compression tool, Fig. 24.
