Manual Transaxle
1. Raise and support vehicle.2. Drain transaxle oil into appropriate container and remove engine lower cover.
3. Disconnect front exhaust pipe and support from frame.
4. Remove rear propeller shaft and support aside. Suspend propeller shaft so it is not sharply bent.
5. Remove transfer assembly mounting bolts, then the transfer assembly.
6. Remove air cleaner hoses, air cleaner, air intake hose and vacuum pipe.
7. Remove battery and battery tray, then the washer tank.
8. Disconnect transaxle control cable.
9. Remove clutch release cylinder and oil line bracket without disconnecting oil coupling, then secure to body using suitable wire.
10. Raise transaxle to release pressure on transaxle mount bracket using suitable jack stand then disconnect transaxle mount.

11. Remove transaxle mounting stopper, Fig. 3.
12. Loosen tie rod end nut, then disconnect tie rod from knuckle using steering linkage puller tool No. MB991113-01, or equivalent. Ensure tie cord of tool is tied off correctly.
13. Repeat step 12 on lower ball joint.
114. With transaxle properly supported, remove right-hand crossmember.
15. Remove starter electrical connections, then the starter assembly.
16. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Install mounting stopper as shown, Fig. 2.
b. Torque starter bolts to 65 ft. lbs.
c. Torque right-hand crossmember bolts to 43-51 ft. lbs.
d. Torque lower ball joint nut to 43-52 ft. lbs. and tie rod end nut to 36 ft. lbs.
e. Torque transaxle mount bracket bolts to 51 ft. lbs.
f. Torque clutch tube bracket bolts to 13 ft. lbs.
g. Torque transfer assembly mounting bolts to 61-65 ft. lbs.
