Wiring Harness - Connector Compatibility
NO.: TSB-96-00-004DATE: March, 1996
MODEL: All 1995 models except truck
SUBJECT
WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR COMPATIBILITY
PURPOSE
Some replacement wiring harnesses have new-design waterproof connectors. The female connectors (connectors with female terminals) in the new harnesses may not mate with the male connectors (connectors with male terminals)in the old harnesses. To allow the old and new connectors to mate, the front holder in the old male connector is replaced with a new one. This bulletin tells how to make this modification.
AFFECTED MODELS
All 1995 models except truck.
PROCEDURE
1. Compare the female connector with the mating connector on the old harness. Look inside the connector for the front holder. See Figure 1. Gray or violet male front holders will not mate with light green or orange female front holders. Only brown ones will mate. Therefore, brown front holders must be installed in place of the gray or violet ones in the male connectors.
2. Obtain a brown front holder. Refer to the chart, for the part number.
3. Insert a terminal remover or small screwdriver into the hole in the male front holder and pull out the front holder. Figure 2.
4. Install the new brown front holder by pushing it in until it clicks into place.
5. Connect the connectors.
