Turbocharger Pressure Control Test

NOTE If any self diagnostic codes have set, or if any further diagnostics are planned, read all codes before performing this test.

Turbocharging Pressure Control Test Hook-up:

1. Disconnect the vacuum (black) hose from the wastegate solenoid valve, and connect a hand vacuum pump to the hose via a three way connector.

Boost Pressure Source Location:

2. Disconnect the vacuum (W/red painted end) hose from wastegate actuator control, boost nipple (source). Insert a plug in the intake port (boost nipple) fitting.
3. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for at least 10 seconds, then reconnect the terminal.
4. Apply a vacuum with the hand pump and verify that vacuum leaks down. If vacuum does not leak down remove and inspect the in-line orifice for blockage. If the orifice is blocked, replace the module. If the orifice is not blocked inspect the lines for blockage.
5. Block the end of the boost nipple (W/red painted end) hose and apply vacuum. Vacuum should hold.
6. Start and idle the engine. Repeat the test performed in step number 5. Vacuum should leak down.
7. Turn off the ignition.
8. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for at least 10 seconds, then reconnect the terminal.
