Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair

NOTE: Perform Fuel System Pressure Release before proceeding.

Fuel Pressure Regulator, Vacuum Control Line Removed:

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
2. Reduce the internal pressure of the fuel lines and hose by disconnecting the high pressure fuel line from the fuel rail.

CAUTION: Cover with a shop towel to avoid gasoline spillage from any residual fuel in the fuel rail or line.

3. Remove the fuel return line from the pressure regulator.
4. Remove the mounting bolts, then remove the fuel pressure regulator.

INSTALLATION

Fuel Pressure Regulator Installation:

1. When connecting the fuel pressure regulator to the fuel rail, apply unleaded fuel to the O-ring and then insert, being careful not to damage the O-ring
2. Torque the fuel pressure regulator mounting bolts.

Torque value: 9mm (7 ft.lbs.)

3. After replacement of the fuel pressure regulator, check for leaks with the system pressurized.
